Why we expanded into body care

The idea behind expanding into body care is the same one that started the Plainly hand care line. Most of the products on the market are formulated with poor ingredients, synthetic scents, and formulas optimised for margins rather than for the skin. The shelf is crowded and, on the skin, surprisingly uniform.

    What we changed

We wanted to elevate these everyday products by giving them a natural, perfume-grade scent and a short list of carefully chosen ingredients. Mild surfactants, so the wash cleans without stripping. Rosemary leaf extract for its quiet antioxidant work. Sweet almond oil to soften and nourish. The formulation is built to nourish the skin.

The scent system is the same one customers know from the hand line, so the body line slots into the same morning. The lotion absorbs without sitting on the skin. The wash rinses clean without the tight, squeaky finish that signals a harsh surfactant.

    Why now

Customers asked. People who had grown to love our hand creams and their scent profiles began writing in to ask whether the same scent could be on their shoulders, on their legs, in the shower. A body lotion and a hand & body wash were the two products that came up most. So we made those two first.

    How it is made

Designed with Monocle's Winkreative agency, in the same visual language as the rest of the line. Produced 100% in Germany, in small batches, with the same regional suppliers we have worked with from the start. The bottles share the shelf with the hand creams, deliberately. We would rather grow the line slowly than rush a third product into the cabinet.
